Know more. Ask more. Advocate for yourself.

Information and tools to help you prepare for appointments, understand preventive care and have better conversations about your health.

Before Your Next Doctor's Appointment

Go in prepared. Leave with answers. Before your appointment, write down your top concerns, medications and supplements, recent changes you've noticed and the questions you don't want to forget.

Questions worth asking:

  • What could be causing this?
  • Are there other possibilities we should consider?
  • What are my treatment options?
  • What happens if we wait?
  • Are there side effects I should know about?
  • What should I watch for?
  • When should I follow up?

Know Your Preventive Care

Don't wait until something feels wrong to pay attention to your health.

Preventive care can include regular wellness visits, screenings and conversations with your healthcare provider based on your age, history and individual risk factors.

HRSA's Women's Preventive Services Guidelines include recommendations covering well-woman visits, breast and cervical cancer screening, anxiety, diabetes after pregnancy, urinary incontinence and other areas of women's health.

Women's Health A to Z

Sometimes you just need a credible place to start.

From fibroids and menopause to heart health, thyroid disease, UTIs, reproductive health and mental health, the Office on Women's Health maintains a searchable collection of women's health information.

Seen. Heard. Believed.

You deserve to understand what's happening with your body.

If you don't understand an answer, ask again. If something doesn't feel right, say so. Take notes. Ask about alternatives. Ask what happens next. And when appropriate, consider seeking another medical opinion.

TrustHER reminder: You don't have to know the medical terminology to ask questions about your own health.

Your Health Changes. Your Questions Should Too.

Your 20s aren't your 40s. And your 40s aren't your 60s.
